Very basic accommodation. Excellent shared bathrooms. Good food and friendly owners and staff. Platypus "hunt" down the river a big bonus. No air conditioning so beware during heatwave.
Cafe service was slow (even when there was few people there) and the cheese platter was way overpriced. Coffee was good and the location and decor quite nice.

I stayed in a single budget room with a shared bathroom. The bedding was clean and the bathroom wall maintained. Though in the bedroom there does seem to be a spot behind the door that hasn't been vacuumed in some time. The bed was comfortable and the wifi excellent. The cafe on the first floor makes brownies that are sublime. Rich, dark and moist. Skip dinner and go straight for dessert!
We came across this hotel when we noticed a sign out the front for free platypus spotting. We met Mark (owner) who took us to the river and spent about 45 with us looking for these lovely little creatures. He gave us a talk on different topics relevant to Deloraine as we strolled around the river.We then spent the next few hours in the hotel mixing with the locals and enjoying a wonderful meal. Loved the feel of the Empire and will definitely be visiting again when we return.
